About Harry

Named after Mabel White's English Grand Father Harry E. Harvey, Sr. who was the biggest, tallest, most resourceful and hospitable man during the depression era.  Raising six children, Harry Edward managed to make anyone feel welcome with what little resources he had.  Generous to a fault -- no matter who came to his house, or what time it was, guests were given something to eat and a cup of tea. He was truly English on his father's side and his mother was 100% Irish. What a wonderful combination!

During the depression era, Harry sold "fruit soap" and a very special "apple butter" to stay afloat.  Mabel has been told many times she inherited her Grandfather's kind and resourceful spirit, although she was barely two years old when he passed [he was one paper short of formally adopting her].

In return for his loving consideration, Mabel attributes this very special tea company to Harry E. Harvey, Sr..  The biggest, tallest and kindest man that walked in the mid 1900's.
